Subject:Support for Preserving Laguna Lake Municipal Golf Course
Dear Mayor and Members of the City Council,
I am writing to express my strong support for preserving the Laguna Lake Municipal Golf Course as a
public, city-owned recreational resource.
This property is a true community asset—one of the few remaining large green spaces that is accessible,
affordable, and enjoyed by residents of all ages and backgrounds. Beyond golf, the course serves as an
important community greenbelt, contributing to open space, environmental benefits, and overall quality
of life.
I urge the City Council to prioritize keeping the golf course public and to invest in thoughtful
improvements that expand access and usage. Exploring a vision for a golf-centric community multiplex—
while maintaining the integrity of the course—offers an opportunity to enhance recreation, generate
sustainable revenue, and ensure the space serves current and future generations.
Protecting this land as a city-owned recreational facility reflects long-term stewardship and a
commitment to preserving public spaces rather than permanently converting them to private or non-
recreational uses. Once green space is lost, it cannot be replaced.
Thank you for considering the voices of residents who value Laguna Lake Municipal Golf Course as a vital
part of our community. I appreciate your leadership and your commitment to shaping a future that keeps
public land public, green, and accessible.
Sincerely,
Jenna Atiya
