Subject:Feedback - Emerson Park Update Project
Hello,
My name is Emily Cardoza and my husband and I have lived near Emerson Park for the past 8 years. We
have a 2-year-old son, so for the past year (since he was able to walk) we have enjoyed Emerson Park
almost weekly.
Firstly, thank you all for putting the time, energy, and resources towards improving this park. It's a great
location for residents and downtown visitors, and as a neighbor, it's always felt like a comfortable and
safe location for my child.
In reviewing the Project Design, I'm very excited for so many of the amenities planned - an accessible
restroom, water fountains, extra shade options, and expanded playground equipment. I also appreciate
the designated dog park - given that so many neighbors bring their dogs to Emerson, it will be nice to have
separate areas so that the dogs aren't accosted by toddlers (or vice versa, though we've never
experienced an unfriendly pup at the park).
Speaking as a parent, it would be helpful to have additional waste receptacles and water fountains in
other parts of the park, so that we're able to remain with our children while hydrating and cleaning up. I
would also request that the planned swing set include swings for younger children and children with
disabilities - we often meet other toddlers and their parents at the park, and the planned project does not
include swings that young children can use.
