Subject:Laguna Lake Golf Course Study Session - February 3, 2026 - Agenda Item #7
Hi,
I live on Laguna Lane, near the Laguna Lake Middle School and Golf Course in question, and I am
completely against the golf course being turned into housing.
As a resident who has lived here for 24 years and I can tell you the traffic is horrible, with the school
and all the LOVR driving in and out to Los Osos, the traffic is getting worse. I have seen kids who are
trying to cross the street almost getting hit by cars and that is with the crossing guard. In fact I have
seen the crossing guard almost get hit too. I have seen multiple severe car accidents there frequently.
With added housing that will compound the problem several times, it would be a matter of time before
someone gets killed. There is a lot of land to build on just out side the city line, how about starting a
special research group that can start working with the county to expand the housing around the
perimeters of the city. We are to packed-in, in the city. Additionally, the cars are getting bigger and
the streets smaller. Further, the golf course is one of the few green patches left in the city that wildlife
can make there way to the lake from the Irish Hills. The impact will be huge. I strongly recommend
prospecting just outside the city limits or go thru the proper channels to possibly change the city limits
or work in cooperation with the county to build housing. We are getting packed in like sardines and
people are upset, it is ruing the reason everyone loves SLO.
