Subject:LAGUNA LAKE GOLF COURSE
To whom it may concern,
I am writing this letter as a golfer, as a San Luis Obispo native, and as a local business operator. I
run Kennedy Club Fitness and want to express my deep sadness on the idea of removing such a historic
landmark of our town. The course provides such a valuable fitness outlet for our community. I posted a

sign in the club about the upcoming city council meeting on the 3 and have been overcome with people
asking questions about the possibility of losing such a prized part of SLO. With 10,000 members county
wide that have health and fitness on their mind, closing one of our outlets does not align with out vision
of this great city. I would live everyone to seriously consider what impact this will have and many times
that is not felt till after something is gone.
A little about myself. I have been playing there for over 30 years and when Ava was there received an
"MVP status award" for playing the course so often, I was close to 40-50 times a year. As a child the
course was manly older people and I really enjoyed playing with them. Now I am so happy to see that the
younger crowds have taken over. I am 44yrs old and the wise old man now LOL. Cal Poly and Cuesta
students have found and made the course their home. With the executive level of play that
accommodates all levels of play it satisfies more players than non-golfers know. I have taught my 2

daughters to play there and also 1 tee, I have taken adult players that play infrequently, as well as my
fellow low handicappers still play there too. That kind of versatility is unheard of for most cities. I am a
single digit golfer and save myself many strokes by how good at chipping and short game skills, I am
often asked how I became so proficiant at that part of my game, I tell people about the course I grew up
on (Laguna) and the raised greens.
