Subject:Attention Parks and Recreation Commission - Emerson Park grant application
Hello,
It has come to light that the City’s 2019 Prop 68 grant application for Emerson Park —
written by the City itself — describes Emerson Park and the surrounding neighborhood
as “critically deficient in park space, serving a disadvantaged area, and in urgent need of
preserving what little open field space exists for community use.” There is no dog park
proposed — the justification is entirely about scarcity and the importance of this field.
I urge you, as City leaders, to drop the proposal for Emerson Park that cuts into the
open field, carving out a dog park, leaving a space insufficient for baseball or soccer
practice or the free play so vital for children.
