Subject:Laguna Lake Golf Course Study Session - February 3, 2026 - Agenda Item #7
My husband and I are writing to provide our support to maintaining and reinvesting Laguna Lake
Municipal Golf Course (LLMGC) as an affordable recreational facility, open space, and educational
facility. Fifteen years ago, we brought our then 4-year old son to LLMGC for his first golf lessons through
the FIrst Tee program. We continued to frequent the golf course as a family throughout his youth and
adolescence. Since my retirement in 2023, I have had the great fortune to join a group of ladies that play
weekly at LLMGC. My husband and I also frequently play golf at LLMGC, and have enjoyed the company
of golfers of all ages, both local and visitors to San Luis Obispo.
While we appreciate the need for affordable housing in our community, we applaud the City Council for
their history of supporting growth limitations in San Luis Obispo. LLGMC, Daemon Garcia, and
Sinsheimer Parks complex are the three areas that generate revenue as well as community fellowship in
the City of San Luis Obispo. We look forward to renovations and expansion of the current facility, but
hope to maintain its status as an affordable and approachable facility for community members of all
ages.
