Subject:Laguna Lake Golf Course
I think it's a real travesty that the City Council is even considering closing the Laguna Lake golf course.
What the city should do is fix the clubhouse and the bridge over the creek.
This golf course is the only affordable option in the area for families, seniors and students. I find it hard to
believe that the golf course is not covering its costs and is financially non sustainable. The city has done
nothing to maintain or improve the course in years.
I miss going to the restaurant at the golf course and supporting the adults from Achievement house who
used to work there. They were awesome.
I understand the push for this change is one city councilperson. What is their reasoning or ulterior
motive? I do not want to see 27 acres of low income housing at this location as this creates a welfare
exemption for property taxes. That would reduce even more city revenue. I've also seen what was
supposed to be low income housing in the County get changed through development because they
quote go over budget and the developers are allowed to charge market value. I also do not believe the
area is designed for additional traffic that would be created.
Please keep the golf course open and fix the clubhouse to where the golf course creates additional jobs
and revenue.
Sincerely,
David A. Ion
