Subject:Laguna Lake Golf Course Study Session - February 3, 2026 - Agenda Item #7
Dear City Council,
I am a close by resident of the Laguna Lake Municipal Golf Course and cannot reiterate how much I support
the course's continued existence. This municipal course, operated since the late seventies by the town, is a
treasure that must be preserved. It is part of what makes our wonderful community unique. Maintaining it as a
recreational space and a community greenbelt is essential. I see for myself how it is used for youth and
seniors, alike. As a senior, myself, I can go out there and hit balls on the range and play a round because it is
so affordable. I talk with Shawn, the greens keeper all the time and know how much pride and hard work goes
into maintaining the course. I think it is 100% worth investing in improvements to expand access and usage.
Let’s start by restoring the club house and hope that Achievement House remains involved in providing jobs for
developmentally challenged individuals by preparing delicious grill food. I can also attest to the wildlife that
abounds because of this greenbelt. I have seen fox, deer, all kinds of birds, including eagles and yes the
occasional mountain lion. It it is their home, too. I plan to be at the study session on Tuesday, February 3. I
tried to read the reports but was a bit dismayed they were so old. It is time the City Council recommitted to
Laguna Lake Municipal Golf Course. It deserves to be preserved.
Sincerely,
Mary D. Walton
