Subject:Laguna Lake Municipal Golf Course
The Laguna Lake Golf Course is such an excellent beginner's course, ideal for older
residents and for the kids in surrounding schools learning the game. It would be a
shame to lose it.
The location and low-cost are essential for students and retirees to practice frequently
enough to gain the skills needed to enjoy the larger courses around the county.
A little extra common-sense investment in the facilities, along with some publicity from
time to time (especially aimed at younger people and nearby schools), would get
attendance back up again.
I don't buy the argument that it could be replaced by "affordable" housing. I don't think
it's possible to build true affordable housing so close to big shopping centers. The
market will thwart the best of intentions. Housing is an important--but separate--issue
that needs to focus on areas outside the already densely populated and trafficked
neighborhoods.
PLEASE KEEP AND MAINTAIN the Laguna Lake Golf Course.
