While I understand the decision on a fiscal level, I certainly hope the city will consider refurbishing and maintaining the golf course for future generations. Once this wonderful open space and family friendly space is gone, we can never get it back. The course serves the middle school golf team, is utilized for cross country events and the incredibly fun September Scramble. It is the course where my children have learned to play golf. It is a great entry level course enjoyed by many. With some maintenance and a club house I believe the course would be even more utilized. Features like Laguna Lake golf course are what make SLO special. We need to work hard to preserve them and not just be another town full of housing and chain stores. The creek and golf course are also an area utilized by our local mountain lions and gaining access to Laguna Lake when water is scarce. It is incredibly special that we get to live amongst these beautiful animals and we need to do what we can to protect their habitat and ability to survive. I wrote this quickly and do not want to Chat GPT it, because I want it to be from the heart, but please consider the permanence of this decision and the huge loss converting Laguna Lake Golf Course would be. We need to protect our open space and parks. We can never get them back and they truly make our lives in SLO so much better! Kind regards, Traci Fernandes Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone 1
