I urge you to support this initiative based on the following:  It is reassuring to learn of recent successful safety inspections and related operations reports indicating the power generation facility is safe for continued use.  Power generation at this facility has been proven since opening day that DCPP operations to have the cleanest carbon footprint of any other local area source.  The significant positive fiscal impacts from DCPP are many fold providing jobs and tax base payments to support SLO schools and local governments in the region.  As the State’s only operating nuclear power plant, Diablo Canyon provides nearly 10% of the State’s total power supply and that puts SLO County ‘on the map’!  Several visionary leaders including CalPoly’s President Je?ery Armstrong, see opportunities to build on the spot on the map to create a clean energy hub whereby other forms of clean energy can be researched and brought to commercial scale in a co-located fashion. Ample land area exists to meet these R&D/ Commercial activities. Thank you for giving my public comments your attention. I look forward to hearing the results of this meeting and your decisions.
