7. A LAGUNA LAKE GOLF COURSE PROGRAM OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE OVERVIEW STUDY SESSION
Dear Mayor Stewart and Members of the San Luis Obispo City Council:
Please preserve the integrity of the Laguna Lake Golf Course.
Not only is it a reasonably priced course for the young at heart from 6 to 90, but it also provides a welcome bit
of open space for that stretch of Los Osos Valley Road that is dense with housing and traffic.
I understand that there is a proposal to eliminate the local golf course and fill it with housing. I consider that to
be a terrible idea due to the traffic circulation plan and true affordability once the homes are completed.
Currently, residents on all sides of the course appreciate the tranquility of the golf course for recreation and
the wildlife that sometimes frequents the greens.
As a teacher of 42 years in the San Luis Coastal Unified School District, I have also appreciated the fact that this
course is home to the “First Tee” program that provides students with an introduction to golf and good
sportsmanship.
I hope this Council preserves our municipal course and makes the necessary improvements.
