I have lived, worked and served on the Central Coast since 1986. I am appealing to you to save and preserve the Laguna Lake Golf Course for the following reasons: 1. Thousands of us have had countless hours of pleasure - laughing, languishing and bragging as we navigated the 10 holes at Laguna. It's a rare form of recreation - a slow, conversational pace with opportunity for deep connections - perfect for seniors. 2. With all the rapid high rise development, its a great piece of green space that we can't afford to lose to more ugly, metal stacked, 4 story apartments. The traffic on Los Osos Road is already concentrated around Madonna and LOVR with Laguna Middle School in the midst. The parents and students at Laguna Middle school depend on the golf course parking lot for pick up and drop off. 3. If you need 20 acres for your subsidized housing, why not annex 20 acres of Devalle's ranch down the street. It would be more open with better access for planned sidewalks & a park. 4. Once a community golf course is lost to development, the chances it will be replaced are "zero". The cost of land and development are astronomical. We will never see a community golf course again. We'd never consider knocking down The Mission- It is a landmark and peaceful refuge. To thousands of us, including the neighbors living around it, Laguna Golf Course is the same - an irreplaceable, peaceful, recreational refuge. It doesn't make lot's of money, but converting it to subsidized, city funded and maintained apartments will cost us millions of dollars. Who and how will we pay for that? Thank you for turning down the destruction of a community treasure! Sincerely, Michael Sparrow 805-801-2957 1
