Subject:Laguna Lake Golf Course Study Session - February 3, 2026 - Agenda Item #7
Dear Council Members,
I am writing to you today in support of the Laguna Lake Golf Course. I live with my husband and two small
children across the street from the golf course, in the neighborhood just behind Laguna Middle School.
While I am not a golfer myself, I recognize the importance and benefits that such a public recreation
space has in our community. My husband grew up in this neighborhood, and has fond memories of
learning to golf at the Laguna Lake Golf Course, and walking over to use the driving range. He hopes to
take our own children there when they are older. When I drive by the golf course each day, I frequently
see children and young adults utilizing the space. Without the Laguna Lake Golf Course, many San Luis
Obispo residents, both children and adults, will lose out on a recreation activity, and an opportunity to
exercise and socialize outdoors, as Laguna Lake is the only public golf course in town.
I am hopeful that you will take the needs of our community into consideration when deciding the future
of the Laguna Lake Golf Course.
