Dear Advisory Bodies,
It has come to our attention that the City plans to renovate Emerson Park. This is long overdue, and we are
very much looking forward to seeing the future Emerson Park. Thanks!
Our concern, however, is the plan to reduce the field size to accommodate a dog park. Our furry friends are
important but not at the cost of our kids who are desperate for more field space to play sports and recreate.
I strongly encourage that we do not reduce any field space and, in fact, I would encourage to create even more
space. I live off of highland and Santa Rosa. I’ve regularly used Emerson for my team’s practices because of
its central location. The only other parks, with a field, close by in the area is Throop (super small space) and
Santa Rosa (that is another topic for another day). Please note that we were dog owners until our dog passed
away this past year. I understand the value of dog parks; just not at the expense of our kids.
