Subject:post study presentation on Laguna Lake Golf Course Program
To Whom it May Concern:
I stayed at the Council meeting until 9pm and at least got to hear the totality of the study presentation on the
Laguna Lake Golf Course Program Operations and Maintenance overview. I have written before in support of
the continued operation of the golf course but now I am better informed and want to give resounding support to
the Council getting behind this amazing jewel of a program. I did sign up to speak for one minute but just could
not stay, so here it is.
This unique municipal golf course has benefited the community under the leadership of the town sine the 70’s.
This is a wealthy community that can support the health and wellness of affordable activity for youth,
particularly, and then on up to seniors. I know, because I walk the course every morning. I talk to the greens
keeping staff. I know how dedicated the staff keeps up this course despite its many challenges; irrigation, the
bridge and lack of a proper pro shop and food operation. What I heard tonight, though, was despite those
challenges the golf course has continued an upward trend in use and has narrowed the subsidy gap because
of positive energy and creativity. Please, please get behind keeping up this momentum! I loved the ideas to
add a mini-golf course and lighting for a proper driving range. These are additional money makers. We don’t
need another disc golf, that already exists near the dog park but building on the uniqueness of this course and
what it gives the community is what needs to happen. Fix the aging irrigation, fix the bridge, build back up that
pro shop and put in a quality food grill and in no time this place will pay for itself.
