Dear Records Manager,
Pursuant to the California Public Records Act (Government Code § 7921 et seq.), I am requesting an
electronic copy of all body-worn camera (BWC) footage and audio recordings related to my detention
and arrest on 1/20/26 at approximately 12:00PM at or near 324 N. Chorro st. San Luis Obispo, CA.
The incident involved Detective Peck who identified me based on a prior arrest record and past verbal
interactions. I was arrested for providing a false name, a charge which has since been dropped.
I am specifically requesting that these records be provided in an electronic format (via secure download
link or email attachment) to avoid duplication costs. Please note that per the California Supreme Court’s
ruling in National Lawyers Guild v. City of Hayward (2020), the Department may not charge for the cost of
redacting or editing the footage. As I am requesting a digital transmission, there should be no "direct cost
of duplication."
If you intend to deny this request in whole or in part, please provide a written explanation citing the
specific legal exemptions you are relying upon.
