Subject:The oak tree
Hello Awesome City Council Members,
I am saddened by your decision to remove this tree. These iconic trees and, other non-cookie cutter
landmarks, are what give SLO its identity and character. Decisions like this and further pushes towards
expansion/development are killing this city's culture. Again we are making decisions to turn SLO into
another boring, high-cost, cookie cutter California City. Which, to be clear, is a bad thing for the
community and culture of our city.
It's hard to show up to random city council meetings for talking about a tree. But these small things are
slowly adding up and eroding away SLO's character. These choices seem to always bend towards
consumerism and it's doing damage. Turning SLO into another pretentious hub of high expense bland
leisure.
Bring back the free hour of parking, incentvise mom-and-pop shops, and other things that cater to the
small town vibe. We don't need more bougie hotels and luxury brand stores.
Thanks for your time, energy, and effort. It's not an easy job, and I hope you can receive my criticism
knowing my intention is not to condemn your decisions but to help keep this town's identity alive for our
kids to also enjoy.
Thanks,
Tony Lenz
