Dear Records Custodian,
Pursuant to the California Public Records Act (Government Code § 7920.000 et seq.), I
respectfully request public records related to the arrest of Matthew Dylan Jones in
connection with a domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon investigation.
Incident Details:
Date of Incident: February 6, 2026
Arrest Date: February 8, 2026 at approximately 8:21 a.m.
Location: 900 block of Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo
Suspect: Matthew Dylan Jones, age 54
Charges: PC 245(a)(1) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon; PC 273.5(a)(1) – Domestic
Violence
Booking Location: San Luis Obispo County Jail
I am requesting the following records, to the extent they exist and are releasable:
1. Body-worn camera footage from officers involved in the initial stabbing response and the
subsequent SWAT operation and arrest (limited to approximately 20–30 minutes capturing
the key portions to reduce costs).
2. Any dash camera footage related to the response and arrest.
3. Incident, arrest, and supplemental investigative reports.
4. Any use-of-force reports, if applicable.
5. Dispatch logs, CAD records, and radio communications.
6. Booking information and mugshot.
7. Any available written summaries or after-action reports related to the SWAT activation
and arrest.
Additionally, I respectfully request a written narrative explaining:
- The circumstances leading to SWAT activation
- Whether the suspect resisted or refused lawful commands
- Whether any force was used during the arrest
- Confirmation of the weapon involved in the assault

This written explanation will assist in accurately explaining and contextualizing the video
for public reporting and educational use.
Please provide responsive records electronically via secure download (Evidence.com or
similar platform). If any portion of the requested material is exempt, please release all
reasonably segregable non-exempt portions and cite the specific statutory exemption.
If fees are expected to exceed $25, please notify me prior to processing.
