Hello. Reaching out to encourage SLO to put bicycle safety at the forefront of the project. SLO is simply too
spread out for walking to be a viable alternative and at anytime a medical change could remove any person’s
ability to drive.
I use the Bridge Street path everyday to get to work and back. It only takes a few more minutes than driving
and at the end of the day my exercise rings are all closed without having to squeeze in a visit to the gym or set
aside money for gas and gym membership. I consider myself blessed that I can get to work and back without
sharing the road with cars.
There is talk of my office moving to near Trader Joe’s. Without a protected bike lane riding my bike would no
longer fall under what I consider an acceptable amount of risk. I have walked enough miles around SLO to
have seen some pretty horrendous drivers and would rather drive or work from home than share the road with
them. This is a very important artery for people moving around SLO and should be safe for all.
Thanks,
Kelly
