Dear City Council Members and City Staff,
Thank you for the opportunity to comment regarding the street improvement project in our neighborhood bordering Meadow Park. We live at
2297 Exposition Drive, which is at the point where Corrida meets Exposition Drive.
We attended the previous meeting which introduced the neighbors to the project, and we were grateful to have that chance to give our
input. I’m sending this email because, though we planned to attend the City Council meeting tonight, I’m afraid that the weather and the late
hour of the agenda item may keep us home.
My comment about the project is to thank you for removing the roundabouts from our small neighborhood. The speed humps seem to be a
much better alternative. I have not driven much around sidewalk bump-outs, but I can imagine they help to slow traffic. And speeding drivers is
of concern on our street.
I have one question and request for this project. Is it possible to install the sidewalk bump-outs and the speed humps as a first step, to see if
that is a sufficient improvement to bring traffic to 25 mph? Then, at a later date, consider whether the flex posts are also necessary to achieve
the effect that you are aiming for. In my mind, flex posts change the character of the street from residential to something quite industrial, and
the posts would change our neighborhood quite a bit.
Thank you for reading and considering my request.
Sincerely,
Martha Kessler
