I sincerely appreciate the city staff who have put time into engaging with stakeholders and preparing the comprehensive report which will be presented this Tuesday 2/24 at the study session. A comprehensive and mandatory rental registry will allow the City to collect basic information on our rental housing stock that is not available from other sources. The data collected will help develop the City’s General Plan Housing Element, inform the city of SLO where more multi-family and other housing types would be most effective, and can be used to formulate effective policy. Revenue-neutral, standalone rental registries have been implemented successfully in many other cities and counties across California and the nation, and we need it here. (Please see Monterey's Rental Inventory on their website, Los Angeles, Fresno, Concord and more.) https://monterey.gov/your_city_hall/departments/community_development/housing_programs/rental_inv entory.php We all want a livable community with healthy and vibrant neighborhoods, where everyone has safe and stable housing. Please continue to move forward to achieve those goals without delay. Respectfully, Lisa Jouet SLO 1
