Subject:Proposed rental registry program
Dear SLO City Council,
Please don’t implement a rental registry program without VERY careful consideration. Existing business
license requirements and basic city code enforcement feels like an adequate way to keep tabs on the
local rental market and punish bad actors/landlords. Adding more paperwork and fees to a functional
system feels wasteful. If this is a step toward considering rent control methods, that should also be
made clear to residents and homeowners. Please send me details on why this is being considered, so
you have such information readily available, including research or results from other cities that do this.
