Subject:Proposed Rental Registry
Sirs and Madams,
Other than the perpetual need of government to procure more funds to spend, what is the driving force behind
the need for a registry? You currently require a business license to have a rental in SLO. You already have
code enforcement and health/safety compliance officers to investigate when there is a complaint. Stop
already, the residences of SLO are already taxed enough. Please look elsewhere for revenue to pay for your
pet projects.
Please look back at the incorporation charter of the City of San Luis Obispo in 1901 to see if you as council
members are fulfilling the tenants of that charter. On a final note, if you charge landlords more fees, they will
just pass it on to the tenants as a cost of doing business in your city. You as council member must know that a
fee is a tax on those that pay it.
Sincerely,
Mike Devens
