BC1 and T2 arrived to find smoke in the neighborhood. BC1 established Diablo IC and gave arrival report. T2 assigned to fire attack and primary, and obtain a 360. IC noted caution with a descending residence with smoke from the Charlie side of the building, possibly below street level. T2 pulled attack lines and establish water supply. T1 assigned to Ventilation Group and secure utilities. No ventilation needed per T1 with 360. E4 assigned Division Charlie, with T2 working for them. Upon Cal Fire arrival, they were also assigned to Division Charlie. Units were able to extinguish the fire rapidly and begin overhaul operations on the deck and house to confirm no additional active fire. Fire was noted in multiple difference spots below the deck and structure. Investigation noted an electrical power cord running from an old heat pump at the spa, laid on top of the dirt and then below the deck and residence. There was significant charring and "alligator burn" to timbers. One resident noted that had smoke outside in that area approx 10+ minutes prior to the fire. However significant amount of charring would likely not be able to be caused in that short duration. BC1 contacted Fire Marshall J Daniel. Picture of the cord with damage at the ends attached to this report. Residents noted the deck had been failing for as long as they were living there, with homeowners notified. No other work or services in that area for past 2 years, per residents. Red Cross requested and arrived to assist. Cal Poly rep arrived at the scene to assist with student services and needs.
