RECOMMENDATIO N
In accordance with the recommendations of the Council Subcommittees, make appointments to th e
City's advisory bodies effective April 1, 2012 below and direct the City Clerk to continue to recrui t
for the unfilled positions .
DISCUSSIO N
Backgroun d
San Luis Obispo has a long history of involving its citizens in the business of City government .
Holding a position on an advisory committee and/or commission provides an opportunity fo r
interested residents to participate in the governing of their community under guidelines an d
procedures established by Council . The City holds an Annual Advisory Body Recruitment to fil l
those positions which commence on April 1 St
This year the City recruited to fill 20 scheduled and unscheduled advisory body positions . A tota l
of 34 applications were received . The recruitment was conducted between January 1, 2012, an d
January 31, 2012 . Council Liaison Subcommittees conducted interviews throughout the month o f
February .
No vacancies currently exist on the Jack House Committee, Personnel Board and Tree Committe e
and therefore no recruitment was held .
In addition, due to Council's action on February 21, 2012, to re-organize the Parks and Recreatio n
Commission and dissolve the Shared Use of Recreational Facilities Committee,no appointments ar e
being recommended at this time . Staff will be scheduling interviews for the Parks and Recreatio n
Commission at a future date .
