Subject:Public Comment Broad Street Corridor
Hello City Council,
What, oh what, is to be done with Broad Street,
now darkened by the recent death of a motorcyclist.
Does a single soul dissent from these simple facts?:
Broad Street traffic moves too quickly. Lack of
signals encourages such alacrity.
Left turns from sidestreets make even those brave
of heart quake with fear. Some perhaps the wisest,
decide not to tempt the fates. They opt to make
right-hand turns and drive into the Crossroads
Center, burning gas (the light to turn left out
of there requires the patience of Job) and
transforming that parking lot into a potential scene
for accidents.
Landscaped dividers on Broad will add greenery,
always welcome. But if they hinder sidestreet
drivers from eyeing oncomming traffic, more burial
sites will need to be shoveled.
Please, in your wisdom, at the very least, limit
parking on Broad so that views are unhindered
for those of us attempting a left turn. Or, truth
be told, for us when trying to make a right one.
Thank you.
best, George Cotkin
