Dear Councilmembers,
I am writing to provide comment on Agenda Item #8a for the April 7th City Council Meeting. I am a
member of the SLO Chamber's Economic Development Committee and was grateful to be present for
the presentation by the City's staff on the Climate Action Plan during our February meeting.
I am writing to urge the City Council to consider integrating the Climate Action Plan with housing and
land use goals. As an employer, we continue to lose staff due to lack of affordable housing, as well as
staff who cannot afford to make the commute due to high gas prices. Linking housing needs with climate
action addresses these issues in meaningful and impactful ways.
The city has a history of being a leader especially with regards to the environment. This is an excellent
opportunity to continue that legacy.
