HomeMy WebLinkAbout4/21/2026 Item 7b, Detz Toni Detz < To:E-mail Council Website Subject:No on point of sale sewer lateral requirement To City Council Members- I believe requiring the completion of Sewer Lateral repairs (or replacement) before the close of Escrow in a real estate transaction will cause many problems for both Buyer and Seller. The City of SLO should allow the new Homeowner (after the close of escrow) a one year time frame to complete the repairs. I speak from both personal and business experience having gone through the replacement and repairs of sewer laterals multiple times. The burden of the significant amount of time and money involved with the repairs/replacement needs to be balanced with the Seller and Buyers ability to financially afford to complete the work and the additional timing needed. This is especially true when there may be significant factors such as death, illness, divorce or job transfers that may require a very quick transaction and close of escrow.
