The ventilation system in connection with hoods shall be operated at the required rate of air movement, and grease filters listed and labeled in accordance with UL 1046 shall be in place where equipment under a kitchen grease hood is used. Make-up (supply) and exhaust air did not appear to function adequately during acceptance testing for hood extinguishing system modification(s). Business owner has been requested to have a licensed HVAC contractor and or CA licensed mechanical engineer evaluate the current hood exhaust system and provide record of correction and or completion of repairs. 08/13/2025 904.3. 5 Monitoring. Where a building fire alarm system is installed, automatic fire-extinguishing systems shall be monitored by the building fire alarm system in accordance with NFPA 72. Activation of the hood extinguishing system via manual pull station initiated a supervisory condition at the fire alarm control panel. Per current NFPA 72 standards, hood extinguishing system actuation is required to activate an alarm condition and is required to send an alarm signal to a UL listed central station. For further guidance see NFPA 72 Section 17.14 (2022 Edition) & City of SLO Municipal Code 907.6.6 Monitoring.
