Dorsi Tre Et Al Address: 143 Suburban Road, Suite 100 Application Numbe r: OO65-20L4 Plans Examiner: Kerry Boyle Proiect Manaser: Allen Carroll, C-Vallev Services THE PLAN CHECK FOR THIS APPLICANT IS APPROVED CONTINGENT ON IMPLEMENTING THE CALIFORNIA FIRE CODE SECTIONS REFERENCED BELOW FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE PAINT SPRAY BOOTH. 1) CFC 2403.2.1 ELECTRICAL WIRING AND EQUIPMENT. Electrical wiring and equipment shall comply with this chapter (Chapter 24,20t3 CFC) and California Electrical Code. 2l CFC 2403.2.t.t FLAMMABTE VAPOR AREAS. Electrical wiring and equipment in flammable vapor areas shall be of an explosion proof type approved for use in such hazardous locations. Such areas shall be considered to be Class l, Division I or Class ll, Division I hazardous locations in accordance with California Electrical Code. 3) CFC 2403,2.L.3 AREAS ADJACENT TO SPRAY BOOTHS. Electrical wiring and equipment located outside of, but within 5 feet horizontally and 3 feet vertically of openings in a spray booth or a spray room, shall be approved for Class l, Division I or Class ll, Division 2 hazardous locations, whichever is applicable. 4) CFC 2403.2.5 GROUNDING. Metal parts of spray booths, exhaust ducts and piping systems conveying Class I or ll liquids shall be electrically grounded in accordance with California Electrical Code. Metallic parts located in resin application areas, including but not limited to exhaust ducts, ventilation fans, spray application equipment, workpieces and piping, shall be electrically grounded. 5) CFC24O6.L.2.L lnterlocks. The spraying apparatus, drying apparatus and ventilating system for the spray booth or spray room shall be equipped with interlocks arranged to : a) Prevent operation of the spraying apparatus while drying operations are in progress; b) Purge spray vapors form the spray booth or spray room for a period of not less than 3 minutes before the drying apparatus is rendered operable; c) Have the ventilating system maintain a safe atmosphere within the spray booth or spray room during the drying process and automatically shut off drying apparatus in the event of a failure of the ventilating system; d) Shut off the drying apparatus automatically if the air temperature within the booth exceeds 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Portable electric lamps shall not be used in flammable vapor areas during spraying operations. Portable electric lamps used during cleaning or repairing operations shall be of a type approved for hazardous locations. 7) CFC2404.7 Ventilation. Mechanical ventilation of flammable vapor areas shall be provided in accordance with Section 502J of the California Mechanical Code. 8) CFC 2404.7.7 Fan Motors and Belts. Electric motors driving exhaust fans shall not be placed inside booths or ducts. Fan rotating elements shall be nonferrous or nonsparking or the casing shall consist of, or be lined with, such material. Belts shall not enter the duct or booth unless the belt and pulley within the duct are tightly enclosed.
