Daniel Ambriz <dambriz01@gmail.com> Sent:Monday, May 4, To:E-mail Council Website Subject:Support for On-Street Parking – Johnson Avenue Paving & Re-Striping Project Dear Mayor and City Council Members, I am writing to express my support for restoring and maintaining on-street parking along the east side of Johnson Avenue as part of the 2026 paving and re-striping project. Johnson Avenue serves a neighborhood with a significant number of single-family and multi-family homes, where available parking is already limited. Preserving on-street parking is essential for residents, guests, and overall neighborhood functionality. Notably, on-street parking previously existed along this corridor, and restoring it would return a feature that residents once relied on. Additionally, vehicle speeds along this stretch of Johnson Avenue often feel excessive for a residential street. The current roadway width appears to encourage faster driving, which raises safety concerns for residents, pedestrians, students, and cyclists. Implementing a lane reduction or “road diet” could help calm traffic and improve safety, while still allowing for on-street parking to be maintained. A balanced approach that addresses both traffic safety and the practical parking needs of residents would provide the greatest benefit to the neighborhood. Thank you for your time and consideration, and for your continued work on this project. Sincerely, Daniel Ambriz 1
