Subject:Request for Records Related to Emerson Park Grant Scope Change
Dear Sara,
I am requesting copies of the correspondence between the City and the California Department of Parks
and Recreation regarding removal of the dog park from the Emerson Park Prop 68 project.
This includes:
• the letter or email sent by Greg Avakian or other City staff asking whether the dog park could be
removed while keeping the project eligible for the grant;
• the State’s reply to that request;
• documents reflecting the State’s approval of removing the dog park from the project; and
• internal City emails discussing the request or the State’s response.
This request relates to the direction given by the Parks and Recreation Commission that staff contact the
State regarding whether removal of the dog park would affect grant eligibility.
