FROM: Council Members Dave Romero and Penny Rappa
Council Subcommittee to the Cultural Heritage Committee
PREPARED BY: Sherry Stendahl, Council Secretary
VIA: Diane R. Gladwell, City Clerk
SUBJECT: CULTURAL HERITAGE COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS
RECOMMENDATION:
i
By motion, reappoint Leo Pinard to a one year term to end on 3/31/95, appoint Jack
Sullivan to a three year term to end on 3/31/97, and thank Denise Fourie for her years of
service.
BACKGROUND:
Two terms will expire on the Cultural Heritage Committee on 3/31/94; Leo Pinard and
Denise Fourie, who did not reapply. All current applications and those received as a result
of advertising were reviewed. All new applicants were interviewed.
DISCUSSION:
Leo Pinard is eligible to serve for one more year and will at that time reach the maximum
of eight years of service allowed.
Applications of the two nomimees are attached. All others are available in the Council
Office for Review.
ANCILLARY INFORMATION:
In discussions with CHC Commissioner Wendy Waldron, who participated in the interviews,
it was thought that with the unreinforced masonry project approaching, it would be
beneficial for the Cultural Heritage Committee and the Architectural Review Commission
to meet jointly to assimilate the standards necessary to meet URM requirements.
We would suggest that staff assist both groups in getting together so they are travelling down
the same road. ,
