Gladwell, City Clerk SUBJECT: PROMOTIONAL COORDINATING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: By motion, reappoint Pati Brown to a four-year term to expire on 3/31/98, appoint Natalie Diggins to a three-year term to expire on 3/31/97, and thank Jesse Norris for his many years of service. BACKGROUND: Two terms will expire on the Promotional Coordinating Committee on 3/31/94; Pati Brown who did reapply, and Jesse Norris,who cannot reapply because he has served the maximum consecutive two terms (8 years). As a result of advertising, several applications were received and the applicants were interviewed. DISCUSSION: Applications for the two nominees are attached. All other applications are available in the Council Office for review. I've heard many good promotional ideas tossed around lately ranging from turning San Luis Obispo into an Olympic Training Village, to paving the way for a professional baseball team, to something as simple as offering discounts to residents of certain geographical areas to bring more tourist dollars to the city, similar to what the city of Santa Barbara has done. All of these are great concepts that would work well within our community's goals.
