Gladwell, City Clerk SUBJECT: Leave of Absence for Dianne Long RECOMMENDATION: By motion, approve a leave of absence from the Promotional Coordinating Committee for Dianne Long for three. months (April, May and June). DISCUSSION: Committee Member Dianne Long recently accepted an opportunity to teach in London during the months of April, May and June and will, therefore, miss three consecutive meetings of the Promotional Coordinating Committee. The Advisory Body Handbook requires the Council to approve all Advisory Body Member leaves of absence. The attached memorandum to Mayor Pinard from PCC Chair Jack Gatz requests that Ms. Long be placed on a short leave of absence in order to take advantage of this one-time opportunity. CONCURRENCES: The Chair of the Promotional Coordinating Committee,Jack Gatz,and Staff Representative Deb Hossli, concur with this recommendation. ATTACHMENT: Memorandum from PCC Chair I MEMORANDUM March 30, 1994 TO: PEG PINARD, MAYOR FROM: JACK GATZ, PROMOTIONAL COORDINATING COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON SUBJECT: COMMISSION MEMBER ABSENCE Peg, I just wanted to advise you that Dianne Long, a member of the PCC, recently accepted a one-time opportunity to teach in London (through Cal Poly) during the months of April, May and June. Ms. Long learned of the short-term teaching position after accepting her appointment to the PCC. Because Ms. Long has accepted the position, she will miss three consecutive meetings of the PCC. Consistent with the Advisory Body Guidelines, the PCC wanted to advise you of the impending absence. Further, the PCC would like the Council to honor Ms. Long's request for a short term absence from the PCC so that she can take advantage of the London teaching opportunity.
