Dear Mayor Stewart and City Council,
Downtown SLO (DTSLO) is writing to enthusiastically support the purchase of 975 Broad Street.
This purchase offers an incredible opportunity to continue to execute the downtown concept
plan which will strengthen the vibrancy of the downtown district.
At DTSLO, our mission is to foster an economically vibrant downtown through events and
activations, placemaking initiatives, advocacy, and our Clean & Safe program. This purchase
will create opportunities for more activations in Mission Plaza to include the “dog leg” and
further enhance the community centered uses in the Plaza.
This investment lends far beyond a property purchase. It will create the opportunity for
expanded third spaces this community craves. It allows for flexibility of new offerings to the
community. Most importantly, it gives organizations who seek to activate the plaza, the
opportunity to think big beyond the existing footprint which creates a lively downtown experience
which stimulates the downtown economy.
Downtown SLO appreciates the city’s continued commitment and thoughtful planning around
strategic investments that support the local economic and cultural vitality of this community and
downtown San Luis Obispo!
Thank you,
L eBren Harris
