Subject:City Counsel Meeting 5/19/26 - Agenda item 6b (vision zero action plan)
My name is Amy Schroder. I live in the Woodbridge neighborhood and have a residence at 2391 Lawton
Ave.
I’m writing regarding reference agenda item 6b (vision zero action plan) which is on today’s agenda. I am
aware of accidents, including deaths, having occurred on the roads near this area. I am encouraging the
City to act before there is further irreparable harm to residents of and visitors to San Luis Obispo
I have personally observed drivers at all times of the day using Meadow Drive, Lawton Drive, Woodridge
Drive, and the surrounding neighborhood streets as detours between South Street and Broad Street.
There are also those drivers utilizing the Conserv Fuel Station at South and Broad who use these same
neighborhood streets when entering and exiting this business. This non-residential traffic typically
involves people who are arguably running late and driving well in excess of the posted speed limits.
There are numerous families with young children in these neighborhoods. There are countless
people utilizing Meadow Park and traveling by foot or bicycle through these streets who are at risk from
this increased vehicular traffic. Parents biking their children to and from school are a daily presence. The
safety of pedestrians from the new neighborhoods east of Broad Street due to the new crossing at
Woodbridge and Broad Streets are also to be considered.
Please explore the feasibility of installing traffic slowing measures (speed bumps/humps, etc.) through
these neighborhoods before we see further injury and/or deaths.
Sincerely,
Amy Schroder
