Subject:Comments for city council meeting 5/19
Hi -
This email is intended to reach City Council members in regards to the traffic safety Meeting agenda item
that is taking place May 19th.
I am fully in support of the plan that is on the table with extreme consideration to decrease speed limits
and install more speed control. I will say…Johnson Is an accident waiting to happen
(the portion that was not completed from Sydney down to San Luis Dr).
I was raised in San Luis and moved back to raise my family. I am an avid cyclist and have lived in many
different towns through my life. I have to say, I have never felt more scared and uncomfortable on any
road that I’ve ridden anywhere except as I experience in San Luis Obispo. The roads are not kept clean.
There are obstacles everywhere. The so-called safety measures that have been installed so far are
Chaotic. As a cyclist consistency is key. Going from one traffic measured to the next is ridiculous and
unsafe. Granted, there are some areas that do hit the mark so I’m not saying it’s a 100% loss.
1. Speed Control (Physical and Sensors and automatic tickets?)
2. Bigger buffers on bike lanes. (Johnson)
3. More traffic controlled crosswalks
4. Consistency for total traffic and bike transportation plan
Thank You,
Hilary
