For some time now, I've been in communication with the city, urging them to implement traffic slowing measures in the Meadow Park neighborhood area, specifically at the intersections of Funston/Lawton. Why? Because all day, and specifically between the hours of 330-630, non-local traffic speeds past our homes because they are trying to avoid the right-hand turn at the red light at South/Broad. As you can imagine, folks who are impatient enough to reroute themselves through a neighborhood are in a hurry, and they zip through our child-filled streets doing upwards of 50mph. I've taken video, and would be happy to send it to you. It's truly alarming and so dangerous. And we have SO many children in this neighborhood. :( We have a NTM (neighborhood traffic management ) request on the books, but have been told we are at the back of the line and that the city only takes on 1-2 per year. I urge you to include traffic slowing measures in the initiative you are considering tonight (Vision Zero Action Plan). With another death close by at Broad/Woodbridge just last month, I fear it's only a matter of time until something tragic happens to a pedestrian in our beloved neighborhood. Please consider traffic circles and or speed bumps as soon as possible. We have a strong consensus among the neighbors that this is needed. Hoping you take this into consideration. See you tonight!
