HomeMy WebLinkAboutA - 2021-23 Financial Plan 516CIP#111 Capital Improvement Plan     Implementation of a new neighborhood park in the North Broad Street area was prioritized by Council during the 2017-19 Financial Plan adoption and design funding was provided in the 2018-19 Financial Plan Supplement. Staff is currently designing a park at 533 Broad Street, the location of the existing community gardens, to fill this need. Conceptual plans have been approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission (PRC), Planning Commission (PC) and City Council during the re-zoning of the city owned property. The proposed new neighborhood park includes fifteen garden planter boxes (3 ADA accessible), open turf space, playground equipment, a water fountain/water filling station, picnic tables, shade structures, benches, trash receptacles, and an accessible walking path with pathway lighting around the perimeter of the park. The project also includes many improvements within the City public right-of-way at the intersection of Broad and Lincoln Street including accessible curb ramps and high-visibility crosswalks. Construction is planned for the 2021-22 Fiscal Year. $783,000 has already been appropriated for the project, but additional funding is needed due to design and construction cost increases and additional scope to the project from PC and Council recommendations.
