Subject:Minority Report!
Dear Madame Mayor and esteemed city council members, It’s the same old story. There’s nothing new. I have
written you numerous times and spoke to you at many city council meetings. Nothing has really changed. Yes,
there have been small changes and you are always respectful to me. BUT, it always comes down to the same
thing, STUDENT NOISE! It’s really that simple. I don’t understand what the motivation and/or politics behind
what’s going on, but typically it’s ‘follow the money’! From my standpoint I can’t believe that any of you would
‘want’ a noisy neighborhood or would ever want to live in my neighborhood, Alta Vista! So why is the council
entertaining this preposterous notion of letting these ‘overlay’ neighborhoods even exist? Wanting to please
Cal Poly, who in my opinion is a ‘bad neighbor’ or perhaps the city just doesn’t have enough money to pay for
what is needed to prevent this madness? If I have to sell my house now at age 72 after living in it for 25 years
(and 47 in SLO), it will create havoc in my life! I will have to pay multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars in
Capital gains tax, severe increase to my property tax and leave the home my children, grandchildren and my
partner and I love. It’s bad enough that the country is going through it’s insanity, but I can hide from that. But I
can’t hide what will happen if this measure goes through. This blows my mind. What reasons can you give that
you are even considering this?
Respectfully,
Jeff Eidelman
