The home is located in the lower Monterey Heights area of town just east of Grand Ave. It has come to our attention that there is some consideration of changing zoning requirements related to fraternity houses which are increasing at a rapid rate. There are now three houses near us (within one block actually) which are rented to fraternity groups. There are already problems and any relaxations would open this area up to become a total party zone. It has been very discouraging to see a workforce housing area of SLO being sacrificed to help solve Cal Poly’s student housing issues. And by the way there is still a significant number of permanent residents living in Monterey Heights! Carol and I were both in Greek organizations (fraternity and sorority) as undergrad college students but, there was a “Greek Row” which was not in the middle of a permanent residents housing area (R-1). The very idea of holding an outdoor large party with accompanying amplified sound in the middle of a residential area was unthinkable. Please do not abrogate your responsibilities to afford residents of R-1 areas to a reasonable degree of peace and quiet. Thank you. Donley and Carol Winger 2041 Hays St. SLO CA Sent from my iPad 1
