Subject:Correction re: Noisy Party Complaints in past 10 years
Council members,
Thank you for a productive study session covering important neighborhood livability issues.
I wanted to correct some misinformation that was provided during comments to the Council claiming
that the number of noisy party complaints have decreased over the past decade. According to
SLOPD's annual noisy party complaints, 2025 had the most complaints to SLOPD over the past 10 years
and it is trending upwards. I have provided the totals below.
The 50 complaints in red shown above the blue bar in 2025 were noise complaints made for parties that
were registered through SLOPD's Party Registration Program. Those noise complaints associated with a
noisy party are coded as "citizen assist" and not "noisy party" for some unknown reason. But they were
still calls made by community members because they were disturbed by a noisy party. It is not known
how many noise complaints were made for registered parties since the program was adopted in 2017.
Still, noisy party calls are not decreasing, as was represented this evening.
Thank you for allowing me to make this clarification.
