Subject:Agenda item 5j - Traffic calming at Lawton & Funston
Dear Council,
I strongly support allocating funds to the South Broad Corridor project, which you will be discussing in
agenda item 5j tonight.
But while that plan gets researched and finalized, the Meadow Park neighborhood at Funston and
Lawton stays exactly as dangerous as it is today for the kids, cyclists, and pedestrians who use it every
day. We need a stopgap.
Please set aside a portion of the unallocated funds from item 5j to install rubber, bolt-in speed bumps at
Funston and Lawton now. They're low cost, fast to install, and removable once the broader safety plan is
in place. We don't have to choose between acting today and planning for the long term.
