Subject:Records Request: Cal Poly FSL event communications
Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 et seq., I request
copies of all records related to fraternity and sorority event notifications, approved event lists, off-
campus event lists, FSL event lists, and similar records for the period January 1, 2021 through the
present.
• Any records
1. Provided by Cal Poly Police Department, Student Affairs, Fraternity & Sorority Life, the Dean of
Students Office, or any other Cal Poly department to the San Luis Obispo Police Department; and
2. Shared, distributed, forwarded, discussed, stored, or otherwise transmitted between City
employees, officers, departments, volunteers, consultants, contractors, interns, student
employees, or other City representatives.
This request includes, but is not limited to:
• All emails, attachments, spreadsheets, PDFs, lists, reports, memoranda, calendars, databases, or
other records identifying approved fraternity or sorority events, whether on-campus or off-campus.
• All emails transmitting, forwarding, discussing, referencing, comparing, analyzing, or otherwise relating
to "FSL Approved Off-Campus Events," "approved events," "approved fraternity events," "approved
sorority events," "registered events," or similar event notifications.
• All records reflecting the dates such lists were distributed, transmitted, received, reviewed, or
discussed.
• All records identifying the recipients of such lists, including distribution lists, email groups, forwarding
chains, and internal City recipients.
• All records identifying approved fraternity or sorority events. Revisions, corrections, updates,
supplemental lists, replacement lists, amended lists, or follow-up communications related to previously
distributed event lists.
• Any records explaining, discussing, referencing, or relating to missing, incomplete, deleted,
unavailable, destroyed, lost, withheld, or unproduced event lists for any weekend or event period during
the requested time frame.
• Any records comparing approved event lists to calls for service, dispatch records, noise complaints,
DACs, citations, Code Enforcement cases, nuisance properties, fraternity locations, fraternity houses, or
enforcement activities.
1
Any records related to approved fraternity or sorority events occurring during the weekend inclusive of
November 11, 2023, including any event lists, transmittal emails, attachments, updates, revisions,
corrections, forwarding emails, or related correspondence. Records previously produced appear
incomplete, and I am seeking any additional responsive records for that period.
If any responsive records are withheld, please identify the specific statutory exemption relied upon and
provide all reasonably segregable non-exempt portions.
Thank you.
