Thank you Council, please see attached note.
I think the new changes to install a standard traffic signal is a very good idea.
Thank you for the changes,

Good evening.
My name is Roberta Smith. I'm an owner and occupy at 2250 King Court unit 89
here in San Luis Obispo.
I’ve only lived at this location for approximately six months, but have
experienced the anxiety and waiting trying to turn left from King Court onto
South Street. A left hand turn out of King Ct onto South Street is a totally unsafe
maneuver for vehicles.
Thank you for the change in plans at this intersection that will now allow a
standard traffic signal at this intersection. This will allow safe crossing and turns
for automobiles from King Ct onto or through South St. I believe it will also make
it safer for pedestrians and bikes to cross.
I, and my neighbors thank the city for allowing King Court residence to provide
their input in order to improve the safety and operation of the King Court / South
Street intersection for our families and visiting friends.
—————————————————————————————
Currently this intersection:: South Street with King Court on the south side and
King Street on the north side, has a white flashing light that can be activated by
pedestrians and Bicyclist using the push buttons at the corners of the street.
These folks are mostly going to Meadow Park.
Plans and, as I understand it, installation has been mostly completed for a new
safer indicator using the Pedestrian Hybrid Bacon. Our neighborhood, myself
included, think this is a great idea and will make it much safer for the
pedestrians and bicyclist to cross South Street. There is no question or
argument about this increased safety.
However, KING CT is the one and only way in and out of our homes. As I
understand it no public notice was sent to us about the planned operational
changes to South St. We have had no way to express our need for a left
hand turn signaling from King Ct onto South St.
Yes, King Court is the only street that allows ingress and egress from and to the
HOA developments of Parkside and the Villages. So, this would include about
130 residences.
King Ct is a dead end cul-de-sac with entrances to our homes from King Court
itself. Besides our residences, King Court is also a major entrance to Meadow
Park. So many folks park on King Court cul-de-sac to enter the park. Most now
realize how hard it is to get back safely onto South Street from King Court if they
came by car.
Thank you for your time.
