Subject:South & King Improvements
Hello,
As a resident of the Parkside Condominium Complex at 2221 King CT Unit 2, I experience firsthand the
issues caused by the South and King Crossing traffic crossing on a daily basis.
I use the crossing as a commuting driver, a pedestrian, and a dog walker but do not use it as a cyclist.
As a driver, it is difficult to turn both right and left onto South Steet from King CT at busier commute
times in the morning and early evening. Like many other residents in the complex, I feel that a flashing
red light crossing such as the one on Broad street and the one on Madonna Road, would increase wait
times and make it nearly impossible to turn left during those busy commute times and especially when
children and families are using it to commute to school at Hawthorne Elementary either by walking or
cycling.
As a pedestrian and dog walker I do not always feel safe when using the current crossing because cars
do not always stop when the lights are flashing because they are going too fast on South Street so
instead, they speed through. Many neighbors have concurred that they don't feel safe either.
I believe the safest and fairest option is a full traffic light and would hope that this will also slow down
traffic on South Street in general.
Thank you for your time and I appreciate your consideration.
Cheers,
Jamie
