Subject:Item 7d – Request for Traffic Study Before Signal Installation at King Court
Dear City Council Members,
I am a San Luis Obispo resident at 2413 Cumbre Court and am writing regarding Item 7d and the
proposed traffic signal at King Court.
I am concerned that a full traffic study has not been completed to evaluate the broader impacts of this
project. If additional delays are created on South Street, drivers may begin using neighborhood
streets such as Exposition Drive, Woodbridge Street, and Corrida Drive as cut-through routes to
access Broad Street and avoid the signal.
As a parent of young children, this is particularly concerning to me. My children regularly walk and
cross these streets within our neighborhood, and an increase in cut-through traffic could create
additional safety risks for families who live here.
Before approving the signal, I respectfully request that the City conduct a traffic study to evaluate not
only impacts on South Street, but also the potential for increased cut-through traffic in the surrounding
residential neighborhoods. Any solution should consider both pedestrian safety and the impacts on
nearby residents.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Zach Hetrick
