Subject:Support of Traffic Light at South and King
Hello!
I am a SLO resident and live near Meadow Park. I frequently use the crosswalk at King and South Street and
while it is an improvement, a full traffic light would be safer and very welcome. Traffic on South can be quite
fast, and drivers often don’t see the lights or see them as they are already in the intersection. I’ve also seen
drivers confused if there are multiple groups crossing — drivers often go after the first group and do not see or
expect a second. Meadow Park is a great community resource and having a safer way to access the park from
nearby neighborhoods would be huge benefit. There has also been an uptick in families walking and biking to
Hawthorne Elementary school.
Having a light at this intersection would improve safety and help connect the neighborhoods on either side of
South Street. I am excited to hear that the City is thinking of putting a light here and am hopeful that plan will
move forward!
